Welcome 1-3

Hey guys! Welcome to our blogging site. This blog will be used for discussions about Spanish traditions, language, recent events in Spanish speaking countries etc. Our discussion for this week is based on the topic that we covered on birthday traditions . Recently, the Spanish young women no longer want to have their quinceanera on their fifteenth birthday but want to celebrate on their sixteenth birthday. What is your opinion about this change? Would you prefer to follow the custom or go with the popular American trends (sixteenth celebration)? Also what are some other things you would like to include in your celebration? Waiting eagerly for your responses.

  54. Hey guys! Have you heard of the sport of bullfighting. Recently there was a law passed which bans this sport. Many people feel that bullfighting should be stoppd because it is cruel to the bulls. While others think that the sport is traditional and should be maintained. What are your views on this?
Also to make the blog more intersting, it would be really nice if you did some quick research on other spanish traditions or customs and tell us your view on these traditions or compare them to those in St. Lucia. Guys continue posting your comments and try to keep them positive.

    ReplyDelete
  55. miss i think they should ban bullfighing because after they use the bulls they kill them. This is my view.

    ReplyDelete
  56. i also forgot to say that we need bull meat for food. Without food we will die.

    ReplyDelete
  57. miss one thing about spanards is that they love their food. They don't joke when it is breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snack time.

    ReplyDelete
  58. bull fighting is traditional and cruel at the same time but i think that they should ban bull fighting

    ReplyDelete
  59. miss that bull fighting is reallly dangerous someone could get killed they could continue but to have safetu rules u know make it a little bit more safe to take part in and i dont think the should have it in st.lucia we not ready for that kind of thing

    ReplyDelete
  60. miss they have all their right to band bull fighting cuz alot of people can die and get seriously injured

  61. 1. Going for Tapas
Every tourist who comes to Spain wants to try tapas, one of the most famous of Spanish traditions. But many don't understand it. A 'tapa' is not a type of food, it's a way of eating it. Tapas are small portions, but they can be of anything. And to 'go for tapas' (tapear in Spanish) does not mean ordering a lot of dishes in one restaurant (though, of course, you can), but to bar-hop, eating a different tapa in each bar.

I think going for Tapas is crazy but fun, I would like go for Tapas any day

  62. 2. Flamenco in Spain
Probably the most famous Spanish tradition - but so often misunderstood.

Firstly, flamenco is not a dance. It sometimes has dancing in it. What flamenco actually is is a musical style, with far more emphasis on the guitar, vocals and rhythm than the dancing. In fact, the whole idea of flamenco dancing is a little paradoxical. True flamenco is spontaneous; true flamenco dancing requires the pretty dress: but if you're being spontaneous, you won't have the pretty dress on!

If you want to see Flamenco dancing in Spain, you need to go to a show at a tablao.

I would like to try the Flamenco daning because I would like to show it off at school.

  63. Dancing at a Wedding Reception in Spain

During a Spanish marriage celebration reception guests traditionally dance a "sequidillas manchegas" and present the newlyweds with a gift.

I think this is a great idea because I like to dance while I give the newlywed a gift

  64. Have you seen a real bullfight? It's sick. Just like cocks or pits. time to stop the cruelty.

I hate it as much as cock fighting and dog fighting. It is an aberration of humanity's dominance over animals. I detest the misuse of power.

  65. Kissing in Spain
Male and female acquaintances kiss each other, usually on both cheeks. If a lady expects you to kiss her she will offer her cheek. The ‘kiss’ is deposited high up on the cheek, never on the mouth (except between lovers), and isn’t usually really a kiss, but a delicate brushing of the cheeks. Close family and male friends embrace.

I thing this is ridiculous because people could kiss you how they want to.
